The Guam Bar Association along with the Judiciary of Guam and the District Court of Guam would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Law Day 2020. This year's Law Day Theme is “Your Vote, Your Voice, Our Democracy: The 19th Amendment at 100” which calls on us to commemorate the centennial of the transformative constitutional amendment that guaranteed the right of women to vote. The amendment was passed in large part due to the women’s suffrage movement, a long struggle to ensure that women and men were equally deserving of all the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.
What is Law Day?
Law Day, held annually on May 1, is a national day set aside to celebrate the rule of law. Law Day provides an opportunity to understand how law and the legal process protect our liberty, strive to achieve justice, and contribute to the freedoms that all Americans share.
Due to the current Coronavirus health emergency, the Guam Bar Association, Judiciary of Guam and the DIstrict Court of Guam continues to promote Law Day celebration activities using virtual platforms. Please see our current Law Day 2020 Contest for Students that is currently open via the link https://guambar.org/law-day-2020-contests-students .
